The San Francisco artist, MSSF, was born in Los Angeles, where he got is first taste for muscle worship at a kiddies' matinee of "Hercules Unchained",� staring Steve Reeves. That led to a life long obsession to create images of masculine, mature men of muscle.

He studied art in college in Northern California in the 1970's and bucked the norm with his neo-classical style. When Minimalism was the order of the day in art MSSF was probing his professors for the secrets of the Old Italian Masters. His influences are Michelangelo, Bernini, Rafael, and Titian as well as the sculpture and frescos of Ancient Rome. Also a lover of film, ancient history, and classic Hollywood, he blends all of these styles to create his unique vision. He is know for his brilliant use of Hollywood lighting in his renders from the lush Technicolor palate of M. G. M., to the sharp noir look of Warner Bros. in the 40's and 50's.

A man of many talents, MSSF is also a writer and a Machinima filmmaker. His reputation in the online Machinima world is that of a director to paints with light, and creates films in the old Hollywood style. He has won many awards for his stunning and exciting films.

He was a painter in early life but left the art world to pursue his writing and film making. After the release of his 2009 epic and hugely successful "Cleopatra",� he took a break from that art form and began, in September of that year, to experiment in digital 3D art. It has become a passion and he works on new pieces almost daily finding the speed of the process to be a wonder. In the last year and a half he has produced more "Paintings"� than he had as a traditional painter.
